about Wistful Sound Gazers
WSG's Ron Christopher and Mark Eliott make music with an intensity that mirrors the varied performers who have influenced what truly is a style all their own; Christopher's tenor voice and harmonies recall the lulling quality of front man David Gates of Bread, as well as R&B artist Maxwell, and pop masters Seal and Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty. Eliott's background as a sought after bass and guitar player in Syracuse led to him performing with such hit makers as Benny Mardones, Julien Lennon and The Hooters. After scoring internet success with the song "Push" which received nearly one million downloads in over twenty countries on MP3.com's TruSonic, Ron's collaboration with Mark has unveiled new directions in WSG's music.
Mark joined WSG in 2000 when Ron was looking for musicians to play in his shows; after recording a demo, both songwriters knew there was a synergy worth exploring. The duo brought guitarist Josh Collins of metal band Jettison Grey Matter on board, who wrote, recorded and performed as a member of WSG until 2006.
Other artists who have worked with WSG include Brett Kull and Paul Ramsey of Echoland and Grey Eye Glances, Jettison Grey Matterdrummer Kevin Koller, bassist Rudy Ricketts of Rudy and The Ritz, WSG producer and blues artist Joe Stout, Zahmu Sankofa, Kenneth Pitt, and Ramona Hunter of vocal trio Three, gospel artist Avis, and jazz guitarist Winston Gaye.
