about Torben Thoger

One might say that although Torben Thoger was born and raised in Denmark, his heart has always been in Spain. Driven by a love of melody, this masterful composer offers a powerful three album music collection that alternately relaxes (Harmony), engages (The Present), and impassions the listener (AKASHA) in an aural journey through his world. Torben readily shares his love for Spain and its more exotic tastes and terrains in AKASHA and The Present, while reflecting a quiet love for the simplicity of Denmark in Harmony. Of his latest album AKASHA, he says - This is music from my heart - and from AKASHA.

In 2008, Torben Thoger is releasing his New Age albums for the first time in the United States. He composed, arranged and produced all music on his three aforementioned albums in either his state-of-the-art home studio in Torup, on the Danish isle of Samso, or at his home-away-from-home in Callosa den Sarria, Alicante, Spain. Whatever the location, Torben believes in living a creative lifestyle with his family; Mette Lund, his wife, is a painter and a healer.

Experts, such as Suzanne Doucet of Only New Age Music, say his music has more in common with the rich eclecticism of top European New Age artists than it does with the more traditional and staid sound of Denmarks current New Age offerings. She offers, - His music is influenced by different cultures and styles, and he blends classical, world and pop elements into a tapestry of colorful and relaxing soundscapes; his music will appeal to many different audiences. I would call his music Holistic New Age.

Following his singing career as a child star in Denmark, Torben Thoger made a profession of composing music. He has decades of experience composing and producing original music in various styles for film, television, musicals, multimedia and his own productions. He is the proprietor of Camelot Communication, a Danish company creating and producing a diverse slate of music, film, multimedia and arts projects for esteemed organizations such as the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and The Danish Ministry of Education. He is a member of DJBFA - The Danish Society for Songwriters and Composers.

Sharing his professional knowledge and holistic outlook on life is something Torben enjoys, lecturing at various Danish educational centers such as the European Film College, among others. His subjects and classes include song-writing, composition, film-music (soundtracks), creativity, intuition, personal growth, spirituality, cooperation and communication.

His music will be available in bookstores and gift stores, and is already available at webstores such as Amazon.com, CDBaby.com, NewAgeMusic.com. His music can also be downloaded at iTunes, Emusic, Rhapsody and Napster. For all the latest links and information, visit www.camcom.dk.

Torbens music is available in music stores and online.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Title:  New Age composer Torben Thoger celebrates immediate U.S. release of The Present and Harmony, following three months spent atop New Age airplay charts with his latest album, AKASHA.

Los Angeles, CA (July 22, 2008) – New Age composer Torben Thoger announces the U.S. release of his albums The Present and Harmony, following up on his successful release of AKASHA earlier this year. The Danish composer continues to work with new age music consultant Suzanne Doucet of Only New Age Music, who will manage campaigns for marketing, public relations, radio, special markets and distribution on Torben’s behalf in the United States.

“I am truly overwhelmed by the support the Americans have given me since I released AKASHA in the United States,” says Torben.  “Every single comment on MySpace, each downloaded track and each album purchased online or in music stores makes me happy, because my music might have healed a heart or entertained at the right place, at the right time.”

He goes on to explain that the next two new releases are considered more “traditional” New Age albums than AKASHA.  Inspired by the ancient Akashic Records; AKASHA’s popular single “A Wonderful Place” enjoyed several weeks at #1 on Music Choice’ Soundscapes since its release in April, and remains in the Top 5. Torben also ranks in the Top 40 of Sirius Satellite Radio’s New Age Artists rankings, while the title track, AKASHA, is #3 and still climbing. (http://dogstarradio.com/top40.php?channel=73)  In July, Torben joined nearly 10,000 artists in the “Other” genre on ReverbNation.com, and has climbed to the #76 position within a week. His popularity is still rising;  he is one of only a handful of instrumentalists in the category.

Torben’s next two catalog releases -- The Present and Harmony -- will be promoted with similar radio and promotional campaigns, beginning in July 2008.  Torben explains, “Harmony has the descriptor: ‘A sensitive and dynamic journey of beauty and joy,’ and The Present: ‘Timeless instrumental music for your well being today.’  The most popular track in Europe was “Primavera” so we shot a music video to accompany it; one can find it on my websites and on YouTube.”

Harmony offers a gentle instrumental journey into a world that is rich in fantasy and beauty. The composer sought a balance where classical, world and healing music meet, to create a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. The instrumental music aims, among other things, to create a calming and balancing effect.  Torben says, “It is intended to strengthen one's ability to undo an excess of stress, and to re-establish a natural flow of creative energy, bringing you into Harmony with your surroundings.”

The Present is Torben’s second New Age album. Its beautiful and catchy instrumental music is both relaxing and uplifting, with dynamic and meaningful undertones. Gentle guitars and violins accent a journey into a new universe of sound, an exciting expedition leading to a deeper experience of the senses. “The Present is relief for the soul,” says Torben.  The album was recorded and mixed in Samso, Denmarkand Alicante, Spain, where Torben and his family will permanently reside as of Fall 2008.

The music on the albums and tracks is composed, arranged and produced by Torben Thoger, and he performs and programs most of the instruments and effects himself. Torben collaborates with international artists like Pepe Bornay, who adds spice with Spanish guitar, rhythm guitar and Latin American instruments on the albums The Present and AKASHA.  Cuban musician Armando García Fernández plays the haunting solo violin parts on those albums as well; both musicians join Torben in the Primavera video.

Suzanne Doucet, principal of Only New Age Music, weighs in on the significance of the new offerings, noting “The U.S. release of the albums Harmony and The Present gives Torben's fans the opportunity to complete their collection of his current work, which mirrors his personal mystical path through life. Torben's music is very diverse. He incorporates every aspect of new age music styles. But there is an underlying warm spirit of beauty, hope and love that ties it all together. Torben's inspiring, intuitive melodies and sounds allow one to completely surrender and relax and be entertained at the same time.”

If you enjoy music by Kitaro, Vangelis, Ottmar Liebart, Steve and David Gordon, Steven Halpern, David Arkenstone, Chris Spheeris, Michael Hoppe, Yanni, Omar Akram or Ray, then you will want to experience Torben’s music.

“His fans may be inspired to invent a new term for his music, such as Integrated New Age or Holistic New Age,” Doucet adds.

Torben Thoger's albums AKASHA, The Present and Harmony are available in music stores such as Borders and Barnes and Noble, and online at Amazon.com, CDBaby.com, iTunes, newagemusic.com and more, in both CD and downloadable formats.  Outside the U.S., his music is available in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Brazil and Scandinavia; the albums will also be released in India, Taiwanand Canada in Fall 2008.
