about The Gorgeous Hussies
Biography
The Gorgeous Hussies
"A tight band with a groovy sound that resonates a bit of the jam band beat with a lot of jazz and folk undertones."
~ Idaho Mountain Express
In a scene full of angst and over-production The Gorgeous Hussies' atypical take on progressive groove-rock is refreshing and infectious as they weave off-the-wall riffs, catchy melodies and danceable beats.
Since the summer of '06 this Salt Lake City based rock outfit has been tirelessly entertaining audiences at rock venues throughout the Intermountain West and don't show any signs of slowing down. Fresh off their successful Spring 2007 Rocky Mountain Tour the trio is actively booking their Fall tour as they hit the studio to record their sophomore project.
In 2006 the group released their debut album Oh! Hello that features 6 studio tracks and serves as an announcement to the music scene that the trio has arrived. The band is now feverishly working on recording their follow-up album in order to capture their current energy they've created in their live performance over the past year. They plan to release the new album before Christmas 2007.
The Gorgeous Hussies have been met with much fanfare from press outlets throughout the different cities they've toured. Newspapers, radio and television stations have all been gracious in promoting this grassroots band and have spread the word to their audience on The Gorgeous Hussies' upbeat rock driven live show.
"You can expect The Gorgeous Hussies show to be upbeat, groovy, funky and rock driven, with tongue-in-cheek humor."
~ Linda Alexander, Idaho State Journal
"Rock music, touched by the hand of experimentalism and folk, and fused with enough humor to provide smiles all the way around; The Gorgeous Hussies are a must see live band, and a daily listen in the car or on the pod of your choice."
~ Matt Brown, Starry Night
Although The Gorgeous Hussies name is quickly spreading among the US western region's touring scene this is defiantly not a freshman project for the band's members...
John Chatelain (bass and vox) studied jazz performance at the University of Northern Colorado and has toured extensively throughout Utah, the US and Europe with the bluegrass group Albion.
Jordan Olsen (guitar and vox) was an original member of acclaimed Salt Lake City rock group Old Man Johnson. He was also the founder of the popular local music radio show The Local Landing on KWCR 88.1 The Edge and is the former publisher for Utah's underground music 'zine, Melting Music.
Ryan Smith (drums) has performed for the past half a decade with Salt Lake City rock-reggae veterans Super Hero. Smith is also a graduate of The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Arizona and part-time's as a recording engineer in Utah studios.
The members bring together their diverse musical experience and zeal to produce The Gorgeous Hussies' exciting sound and energetic live performance.

Yeah, that's right, The Gorgeous Hussies have a live webcam for your viewing pleasure. If you go to our myspace home page you can view a multiple camera live webcam from our recording studio at the top of the page. We're in the process of recording our sophomore album and we're leaving our webcam up during the process. So if you want to see what it's like during the whole writing and recording process come in and check it out. The audio will actually come right off our mixing board, so the audio should sound great. All the instruments mixed, in theory. We'll also have a chat up and available so you can chat with us and other TGH fans who come check it out. We'll have a schedule posted of when the cam should be on. We'll have the webcams up tonight around 9 PM MST (that would be 11 PM on the East Coast and 8 PM on the West Coast). Tonight might be a little sketchy as we try it out for the first time. But come check in and see how the trial run is going. See you tonight! Jordan of The Gorgeous Hussies
