about Jessica Pomerantz
Jessica Daniele Pomerantz started her singing career in the choir of her temple. She soon realized, however, that her temple had no choir. This sad epiphany left her with an amazing voice and no place to showcase it. During her formative college years at the University of Pennsylvania, Jessica became a regular at the main bar on campus, Smokey Joe's Cafe. Often found crooning in a semi-sober state to Janis Joplin, she was soon invited to sing with the Ken Kweder Band, Smoke's staple cover group. Ms. Pomerantz quickly gained notoriety as the "Bobby McGee girl." After graduation, Jessica began working in the business aspect of the music industry as an assistant in radio promotions at Elektra Records. In 2003, she quickly rose to become Director of Radio Promotions for Koch Records, the youngest in the industry's history. Jessica learned a great deal about the music industry and had the amazing experience of meeting many rising and successful artists. However, Jessica soon realized that she did not want to be the one drafting up the record contracts, but wanted to be the one signing them. Her voice has been called sultry, jazzy, and deeply emotional. Folk, rock, and blues create a beautiful mélange of melodies that inspire Jessica's music. Her talent as a lyricist is only outdone by the power of her voice. Maybe we should all be grateful that there was no choir in the first place.
