about Stickman
Stickman co-founded 4th Dimension, we were a group of friends in high school that came home from school and bust flows to any beat we could get our hands on. We started rocking with 2 tape decks and radio shack mixer. We would play the beat out of the CD player into one of the decks laying down the main vocals in real time. This proved to be difficult with multiple MC's, if you F*&#'d up everyone had to start over, there was no punching. Once the main vocals were down we would pop that tape in deck two, play the tape and lay our background vocals back on deck one. For some poor boys from the Flats of Fresno we had quite the set up. The Flats was the hood of hustlers. Black, White, Latino, Hmong, we all did our thing we all hustled whatever we could to flip a $10 to $20. Before I graduated in 1996 we had over 100 songs recorded.
We caught the attension of BigTrain from Railroadtrax. He produced our first 4th Side Album titled "The Gates are No Open". This was made on a Roland sequencer, laid down a 4-track tape recorder with 5 MC's. BigTrain's cousin Jack laid down some sick ass Strings. The album was hot, we were young and pissed off at the world at the time, but it took forever to complete.
Stickman then took matters into his own hands and since then I have produced 6 full albums progressing in production with each one. I still do not have tens of thousands of dollars in equipment, but I have only what's needed to do what I need to do. Going back to the deck to deck, we never punch. You will hear 32 bar verses from the 4th Side MC's with no punchin'. That's tight ish, boy.
Now older and content it just means we like our boobs and butts a bit bigger than before, but we're still the same when it comes to puttin' it down.
