After having spent a decade rockin' out as part of a duo, I've decided to go the solo route my new material.

Reviews from previously released material are pertinent, with regard to style, focus and ideology - so, I've listed below some of the old reviews; followed by some commentary on my recent solo efforts.

"Something Special" Explodes - Jan. 21, 2009

Hey fellow poverty stricken musicians theres hope. I released "Something Special", a 12 song CD recorded at home with a portable 8 TK. I added no bass, no percussion, no special effects. Just a $50 mic and a cracked Takamine Acoustic/ Electric.

Of the 10 singles I released to radio all 10 went to #1. Three tunes hit #1 on 3 different charts. The CD produced Feature "Song of the Month" selections on Extraplay.com and on Afcollective.com. I was also honored with "Artist of the Month" kudos on the aforementioned sites. Something Special also won the Indiecharts.com "Battle of the Bands" in April 2008. It resulted in my being in the Top 5 in all 3 of my principle genres on Myspace for the past 2 years. And currently I'm ranked 18th out of 17,000 on Reverbnation.coms Alternative Global Chart and #242 out of a possible 236,000 positions on the "All Genres Global Chart".

CDBaby has just about sold out and the CD will only be available on digital soon.

So, the point is - DON'T LOSE FAITH - You can work miracles even when your broke! So hang in there!

Local artist Rick Frost with … his tall thin frame and Edgar Winter hair … immediately engaged the crowd with his congenial banter, dry humor and nimble licks on the acoustic guitar. Rick, was on a poetic mission and his politics and spirituality came through on the wings of some powerful lyrics as evidenced by “Homeless Joe” and “I Threw My Cell phone In The Ocean Today”, which he delivered in a vocal style somewhere between Arlo Guthrie and Elvin Bishop, a nice balance of sarcasm and genuine worldly concern. What a show at the Puppet House! Phenomenal! Rick Frost was exceptional – truly a gifted guitarist and lyricist …. He kind of looked like a sorcerer; sure played like one. I’d never seen him perform live before and I was blown away! Rick Frost is a great guitarist and prolific lyricist. I have had the pleasure of seeing him live both as an electric guitarist and an acoustic guitarist. I know for a fact, that this guy made this CD with very little money. Yet, the songs are uniquely his own and tastefully presented. WATCH OUT – if this dude ever gets released w/ a creative budget behind him – things are going to explode.

Thing with Rick is that he lives his words. Of the thousands of gigs he’s done, over the course of the past decade, over 90% of them have been done for charity – even though he can’t afford to buy his own car.Amazing guy – writes amazing songs, as is evidenced on “Something Special.” From his “tip of the hat” to “What The Bleep” w/ Nothin’ We Can’t Do – to his assassination of those things technical with “ I Threw My Cell Phone In The Ocean Today”, Rick is refreshingly original.
