about Marc Giammarco

Award Winning New York Hudson Valley/Catskill Mountain songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer Marc Giammarco began his celebrated career as a young jazz drummer, having been influenced by New York City FM Radio and access to jazz music. His talents were recognized early, and at the age of 15, he won a DOWNBEAT Magazine Scholarship to attend the BERKLEE College of Music in Boston. He continued his studies at Berklee majoring in music performance with additional courses in music recording techniques. Marc has learned with a number of renowned instructors ranging from jazz drummer Alan Dawson and jazz bassist Major Holly, to blues legend Brownie McGee and others. Classical training includes having studied at the Boston Symphony's Arthur Press School of Percussion.

Marc has worked in many genres of music - most notably, playing drums in a wide arena of commercial jazz, pop, blues, and original/independent bands, as well as, drumming in seventeen piece swing jazz orchestras. His performing abilities include playing piano, percussion, and singing. Marc also attended songwriting skill building seminars with Norman Dolph and professional music business classes with Sid Bernstein at The New School in New York City. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers - Smiling Feet Music Company (ASCAP).

Marc Giammarco's songwriting skills have received acclaim by being awarded Honorable Mention at the American Song Festival, Hollywood, CA. He received two Honorable Mention Awards (Happy People) in the Professional Country category, at the Music City Song Festival, Nashville, TN. The 12th Annual BILLBOARD World Song Contest awarded three Honorable Mentions (top 500 songwriter) in the Country/Folk category (Happy People), the Pop category (Hedon Song), and in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel category (Closer to The Truth). In July 2005 and August 2005, the Vh1 Song of the Year competition Supporting Save The Music awarded the songs - Runner Up in Song Excellence - in the Adult Contemporary Category. Most recently The 13th Annual Billboard World Song Contest also awards include three Honorable Mentions in the Pop category, Top 500 songwriter, (Isn't it Amazing)(Get Up!)(Sitting on Dynamite).
