about Phileas
I was born in Lima, Peru in 1976 and began experimenting with electronic music in 1996, musical field that joined some previous guitar, piano, and music theory formation. My background includes a french Master's degree in Architecture and a 10-year collaboration with avant-garde peruvian theater company LOT, for whom I have scored and performed live music in several countries of Latin America and Europe. SPOKEN WOR(L)D, my latest release and most ambitious project to date is an electronic music celebration of human diversity through speech and language. 'Spoken Wor(l)d' recognized by the UNESCO.

On June 31st. the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, included Phileas’ album Spoken Wor(l)d in its List of Projects for the celebration of the International Year of Languages, which is taking place on 2008. This list congregates initiatives about languages and multilingualism “building capacity, research and analysis, raising awareness, supporting projects, developing networks, disseminating information - and diverse outreach (…)”.
