about lezahent

Brenda Hazel is a veteran insider of the music industry, for over three decades now. Since the early seventies, as the widow of legendary Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, Eddie Hazel. Brenda met Eddie in 1971, within minutes, she realized that she had met her Soul Mate. Brenda and Eddie were eventually married in 1983, after many long years of their off and on again courtship.

Brenda is now writing a 'Tell All' book regarding her husband, Eddie's life and his music career. The book will also detail her own life experiences before and after Eddie, their ups and downs, her career, family experiences and other relationships, (the good, the bad, the ugly, the sad and the indifferent). The expert writers who are assisting her in writing this book are all very excited to dig up rock n roll history, as they feel the book will be a bestseller. As things go in this world, there is also a possible Movie in the future regarding Eddie's Music and his real Life. Brenda was recently interviewed, regarding a 'Movie' possibility by a few Executive Producers from Hollywood who have expressed interest. Fun.

Throughout this time, Brenda has come to know many of the top people in the independent, the in between, and the big boys themselves. She had the time, experience, and friendships, that it takes to really understand what it takes to make it on the Next level.

Brenda has formed her own management and consulting company, featuring some of the best Jazz, Nu-Jazz, Classic Rock, R&B,Americana/roots, Soul and Pop Contemporary artists she has ever come across. The artists featured are from Atlanta, Florida, New Jersey, Montreal Canada, Mount Vernon, New York, New York City, Virginia Beach, VA, California, North Carolina and France, thus far. These artists are all multi-talented and are being prepared for success and longevity in the music/entertainment business by Lezah Entertainment Group, along with lots of the help by friends from around the World; friends from as far away as Europe, are supportive, as she travels the long and winding roads to success for the artists and her company.

It's no longer about just getting a record deal; the music industry is now one of the largest corporate business structures in the entire world.

The music industry has changed tremendously, realizing that it is now more corporate, and extremely political. Accepting this fact, understanding that it is not always how talented you are any longer; it is also about what you can bring to the table for the Industry and who you're connected to in some instances. You must be prepared, and you must have a team. Please, always remember, we all arrived somehow, requiring assistance by someone else in some way, at one time or other in our lives, while attempting to reach our goals in life. I will continue to reach out to those I am able to assist; as I will never forget where I came from. I give special thanks to the many friends who believe in me, continuing to encourage, guide, and motivate me throughout these many years. Most of all, I thank God for giving me the strength and determination to accomplish everything I have set out to do in life, no matter the obstacles.

Yes, the one hit wonder days are over! So if you're thinking you are able to kick back, 'lean back', and relax because you have recorded lots of songs, forget about it already. If this is in fact your thought, you're in for a rude awakening. There is so very much more to do these days to survive and thrive in this competitive music business. It is hard work, long hours, and much much more to deal with, on a sometimes daily basis. It can be a struggle; just don't give up. You must have a strong marketing strategy to create your fan base, as getting a serious 'buzz' going regarding your project is a must. Sometimes you might find it necessary to 'piggyback'. This is where a Team becomes truly useful.

Remember, presenting your project to the labels or anyone with TIGHT PRODUCTION is a necessity.

May I please also warn you to never sign a 'contract in the dark'. I am recommending that you always have an expert review the contract presented to you before you execute it.

Hip-hop has evolved from an underground art form to a commercial multi billion dollar pillar. This is all the more reason for unsigned hip-hop artists to get their grind on and look beyond just merely recording. It is now a whole new world of competition. The major record labels are now flooded by voluminous amounts of artists everyday, from around the world; especially the genre of hip-hop. I wish to express to you again that you absolutely, can NOT, simply sit back and expect that your talent alone will get the labels to sign you. This is now a booming business for the Industry!

Welcome to the real world of the music business.

You must play by their rules in order to win their race, and become a real team player at the same time. It is sometimes necessary to develop tough skins, in order to accept the sometimes condescending remarks, crucial and constructive criticism regarding your project, without your feelings involved.

You must somehow convince the labels that you'll be a future asset to their company, and that you are well worth their investment in you and your project. You must keep in mind that you are as eager as they are to be successful, and not just another rapper trying to get their money. Convince the label that you are also smart. Staying focused regarding the progress and growth of your own project is a must; it is truly worth it in the end.

Working with a multitude of artists, I have encountered a wide variety of situations to learn from. Despite these challenges, I am still learning how difficult it can be to counsel and manage some talents at times. That is why a guide like me is necessary some times, though I choose my clients well. I make sure you make the right educated decisions before each next step.

This is the stated warning I must prepare you with. There is and has always been a lot of backstabbing, lies, haters, pitfalls and the plethora of other not so glamorous situations that this industry is notorious for. It is not always a pretty picture. It is a constant grind each and everyday.
