about IZREL DI COTTON PIKKER
Born Corey Garvey on January 29, 1978, Izrel originally from Kingston, was raised in Waterford, Portmore, Jamaica. At a tender age Corey started showing signs of inventiveness, which was fostered through the dedication and perseverance of his loving mother and an encouraging family. Izrel was introduced to the Speech and Arts Program at the Waterford Infant School. This gave him his first opening to perform in front of a large audience. He also attended Waterford Primary where he was full of life in the dance program and made appearances at venues such as Ward Theatre, and the Jamaican National Arena. Active in the community Izrel played rugby for Jose Marti Technical High School. Izrel became a member of the Jamaica Junior Rugby Association, which gave him the opportunity to represent Jamaica on the 1994 Canadian Rugby Tour.
Izrel’s first introduction to a professional studio environment was at the renowned King Jammy’s Studio. This grand experience inspired Izrel to pursue a career in Reggae Music, which led him to record his first dub plate for Electric force Sound based in Portmore, Jamaica. In 1996 Izrel made his presence known when he made the top twenty for Sting’s Star Search. Following a series of achievements in 2004 he then released his first single “Up To Di Time” on the Blizzard Riddim, produced by Trevor Ranking & Howie from Draw Card Productions. In 2005 Izrel also released “Poor People” on the Answer Riddim produced by Bobby Phillips & E.Thompson from Kreative Soundz; which charted the track at the #2 spot for a few weeks on CVM-TV's E Strip Hitlist. Izrel’s uphill struggle also paid off in 2005 by securing a spot on the popular stage show West Kinston Jamboree, appearing annually ever since. In 2006 Izrel kept his momentum by making numerous appearances on prominent stage shows such as Champions In Action, Solid As A Rock and Portmore Culture Fest. Izrel’s recent accolades has been performing at the Jamaica Cheerleading Association finals in 2009 and his latest single “Never Gonna Leave You” featuring Empress Venice, produced and released by Trolla Bear Records and Cotton Pikkers Production. In 2009 Izrel also released the track titled “Cotton Pikkers” which he co-produced alongside Heights Of life Production on the Kush Riddim.
Izrel along with his associate Damion Morris are the founder of Cotton Pikkers Production Company, a group of savvy musicians and individuals who are determined to be a force to be reckoned with. Since stepping out onto the music scene in the early 90’s Izrel has maintained a high level of confidence and is determined to take Cotton Pikkers Production to the mainstream. Izrel’s undeniable talent, unique voice and lyrical dexterity are what sets him apart from the competition, Izrel is predestine to be an international brand.
