about Gyrl Scoutz
1997 was the year Snowbunny Smith & CAKES McGee became friends, who both had a love for music. The unconditional love for music first began in Band Class in Middle School, were the two musicians met. As the years passed, their love for music never faded. In 2003, the High School duo created their first rap along with a few friends. The energy of preforming the rap with their friends, sparked an interest in becoming a rap group, yet the only people among the group of ladies who took the opportunity seriously was CAKES McGee & Snowbunny Smith.
In 2006, the duo choose a name among many names that represented the two in a positive light, thus the name Gyrl Scoutz emerged. In October of 2006, Gyrl Scoutz recorded their first studio song, "Dummy in the Club", which had a great response from listeners via. internet. As 2006 came to an end, 2007 brought new material and major decision. Gyrl Scoutz decided to go for a higher education and put rapping on hold. In the summer of 2008, Gyrl Scoutz reunited from living the College life to complete a mixtape compilation, conducted a street team, and redeveloped their fan base.
On August 5th, 2008 Gyrl Scoutz released "GS Presents....C.O.O.K.I.E.S" The Mixtape. On that day, Gyrl Scoutz along with a well interacted street team, pounded the pavement of the Bay Area streets handing out fliers and selling mixtapes. As of today, Gyrl Scoutz are continuing their education and are in the works of another mixtape due out Summer '09.
