GUNZAWLESS, the music project brought to you by Elvie Jo Music and The Brothers Gonzales, have established themselves as one of the most interesting and, in some ways, the most original live performing bands in a long time.
Gunzawless is a delicious stew of rock, jazz and blues with a distinct Latin flavor, sounding like the vintage blues/jazz jams of Allman Brothers band with Carlos Santana sitting in on guitar - Get Out Magazine.
The brothers have been at it for years. Gunzawless brought their individual styles together to make the music they've all been trying for years to make separately.
Frank the oldest Gonzales brother and architect of the Gunzawless sound plays guitar and sings. Sweet Pete Gonzales plays the bass guitar. Paul G., the youngest, is the Keyboardist. Mike Cheeba De La Torre lays down the rhythm on drums.
It's Latin/Funk. Latin as in Santana or Los Lobos. Funk as in James Brown, Booker T & the MG's. Gunzawless plays about 50% original material in their live shows.
No matter what you want to label them, it's very clear that Frank, bassist Pete Gonzales, keyboardist Paul Gonzales, drummer Cheeba Gonzales and percussion leader Ben Gonzales are masters of their instruments. Together they are producing a sound that mixes genres, delights the ear and excites the soul...
With screaming guitar solos, funk bass lines, soulful piano licks and jazzy drumbeats it would seem that Gunzawless is a child of the history of cool music.
