about Glen Granthem

Glen Granthem was born in Richmond California on June 5th 1954.My early childhood memories are scattered between El Cerrito and Oakland about 15 minutes East of San Francsico. In 1968 my parents relocated to Sacramento partially due to the racial turmoil concentrated in the Bay area. The British invasion caught my ear at the age of nine. Shortly after that I picked up my first guitar and have been involved in music ever since. Whether in a local band or recording in the studio or writing an original song for my latest solo project , Music has become an important part of who I am. This site will be dedicated to sharing my original music history as a SOLO artist. Thanks to an ever changing modest home recording studio I have compiled a library of over 500 polished original demos. The challenge now is selecting ( My Best Of ) The ones worthy of your listening attention.

I BURIED PAUL by Glen Granthem

Silver Can Tarnish , Solid gold can be reshaped , Molten colored memories find their way to escape. We were never really motivated to walk that talk , Or revive the old music that should never have been unlocked. I use to believe you were a link in my chain , Now only to find out your just a memory stain. One by one I'm beginning to let go , Of all the over rated people I use to know. I'll remember the day our music died. You'll remember the way I say goodbye. It's plain to see that know one really cares at all , I see it now you sang the truth. I buried Paul. I've grown so sensitive to all this sensitivity , I'm like a ship in a bottle that keeps longing for the sea. It's like walking on egg shells when I'm reliving the old dreams , I need a new direction just to see where it leads. I'll remember the day our music died . You'll remember the way I say Goodbye...... now the final curtain is coming down , and the SS music well there is no more sound , last solo in my barefeet as I cross the street , Paul is really dead..........

Hi Glen...Wow! "Playing That Devil Back To Hell" rocks! Love the blend of Jazz and Rock...We've always been fans of blending styles, genres, etc. Experimenting is a good thing! The bass line on that song sells it for us...loved it! We'll be back to listen to more over the next few days....looking forward to it. This one was a real musical treat! Wishing you well, Al & Di

Hi Glen. Thanks for the kind words. Wow, 500 songs, that's a huge catalog and definitely tough to have to choose from, but judging from the ones on your page probably all great. Reminds me of the Eagles/Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Re: Eulogy of a Lifetime - Excellent song, Glen! Haunting melody and lyrics, terrific performance and a very sophisticated production. It reminds me a bit of some of the pop/rock ballads I hear out of Europe.
