about Don Cavalli
Cryland, Don Cavalli’s forthcoming release on Everloving Records warrants a solid pair of dancing shoes and the ability to use them. Be prepared.
Ile-de-France-based Cavalli has ingested the sound of pure American rock n’ roll and growls, purrs, and whispers it back to us in a language entirely his own. Cavalli’s undeniable talent is in his ability to mix the genres of rock and roll, blues, and 1960s soul with Zydeco and Cajun rhythms to form addictive grooves. Combine this with more funky beats and an unstoppable wah-wah pedal and the result is a full dance floor. The album’s standout track, “I’m Going to A River,†is a clear culmination of Cavalli’s diverse musical influences. “Regardless of virtuosity,†Cavalli explains, “the main thing [for me] is to swing something honest.†Despite Cavalli’s French background, Cryland truly hits the mark with its earnest and sincere interpretation of American genres.
