about Down north
Down North is a seven-piece band from the Seattle area that blends funk and rock into danceable grooves. They take influences from the past such as: James Brown, George Clinton, Prince and Jamiroquai, and put their own take on funk music bringing jazz, latin and reggae into the mix. Down North just released their debut EP "Danger" on April 20th 2008. "...a perfect blend of old school flavor with a modern edge..." Since then they have been performing throughout the northwest expanding their fan base to Portland and Bellingham as well as holding it down in their howmetown of Seattle, WA. Down North has shared the stage with such local Seattle favorites as Handful of Luvin'; Bellingham bands Acorn Project and Yogoman Burning Band and Portland's Intervisions and Excellent Gentelmen. Down North excels as an opener for any act by increasing the energy level of all crowds. They bring a consistent draw of loyal fans that provide a fun atmosphere at every show where people can make friends, see old ones and sweat the night away dancing to solid funk grooves.
