about Dexter's Kin

Always the free-spirit, he dabbled in different creative facets. Exposing himself to life's contrasting indulgences from the good and the bad. "It was a difficult and confusing time in my life, I was young and naive. I was always anxious to experience new things, which placed me in a lot of trouble." Seeking release from his anxieties, he sought inspiration through music. "Most of my life, I've been exposed to music, from The Beatles to Nat King Cole. My Dad's a musician so it was the most natural thing to do. I joined a band called Dimah, we were together for a while, but when it was time to take it to the next level, different priorities and interests emerged. The break up was unexpected, but inevitably it was bound to happen."

Soon after the band's break up, he immersed himself with his own music. He wrote songs about his experiences from past relationships, struggles with narcotics, and overcoming depression. "It's very different writing songs on my own especially when I'm left with my own devices and have to entertain thoughts that were either pleasing or hurtful. It's difficult but therapeutic. It's honest, and that's what matters."
