Fans say the Ugganauts combine the melodic intricacies of bands like Vampire Weekend, The Shins and Radiohead,with the powerful vocals and guitarwork of the grunge era. Known for uniquely unexpected changes within their songs,the typicial Ugganauts performance takes the audience on a journey through head-bobbing, hip-shaking pop, to fist-thrusting, “Fuck yeah!” inducing rock ‘n roll. Lead singer Scott Daroszewski, and guitarist Doug DeAndrea formed the Ugganauts in April of 2008 after performing as an acoustic duo in the Philadelphia region (and occasionally as the comedy duo Genie Gogo Boots) for several years. The two added drummer/singer Joe McGarvey (East of Nowhere, Lonesome Killers), a veteran of the Philadelphia songwriting scene, and bassist Pete Brown (Thunderbird), a South Jersey guitar icon and owner of South Jersey Guitars, instantly transforming their sound into an aggressive, arrestingly complex sound.
