Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?Born September 4, 1981 in Omaha, NE USA, Joseph Michael Owens began recording electronic music in his parents’ basement when he was 17-years-old with simple recording software built into Microsoft Windows and a cheap keyboard. The music hooked him and he spent the next 10 years honing his style, an eclectic mix of most electronic genres from trance to trip hop, industrial to big beat.
He got his start sampling and chopping loops, adding effects until they were unrecognizable. To this day, he prefers working with samplers, editing software and groove-boxes to the overly-complicated sound stage prevalent in recording studios.
Aliases:
From 1999 until recently, Joseph went by the DJ moniker, “Synister” but dropped the name as his sound matured. Only recently has he reemerged onto the underground music scene with a batch of fresh new tracks on their way.
His upcoming album is entitled “Metempsychosis” which is really just a fancy way of saying “rebirth,” “reincarnation,” or “reinvention” on one’s self. Themes of space/time, the universe and quantum physics still influence a great deal of his work.
