about Funk Defined - George Clinton, Jr and Family!:
This project has been brewing for over two years now, collecting music with lyrics based on the healing of our planet in some way. Altamont Recording, owned by Todd Kelley, has donated his facility, and the time of engineer Erich Hubner, for any songs custom made for this project.

This has multiple purposes, as the lyrics support both the awareness of reaching a sustainable existence through ecological and interpersonal aspects, as well as an awareness of the human rights issue. The proceeds go significantly to the 2020 Fund, the Human Rights Action Center, and creating community access to multimedia technology through an Access Granted facility in Asheville, North Carolina. This is a collection of 33 tracks, in a 2 CD recycled box set, chosen for the words of change and hope that some of our most talented artists have to say about life as it is, and could be.

Altamont Recording’s gift to this adventure so far has been the production of 5 songs that are being featured on the first “In-Sight of 2020 : Music for a Sustainable Planet Earth” compilation CD. The production of this custom material was centralized around two local artists and their friends, now the ‘official house band’ of Campaign 2020. Chach (a.k.a. Charles Matthew Stewart) and Campaign (a.k.a. Sebastian Champagna), and their friends Eric Reynolds, Anthony Brown, John “Baby G” Stewart, have now been put together with four legendary performers, to create key singles for this CD.

We are now releasing four of these five tracks as the singles from the upcoming compilation as a digital release only!!!!!!

In the beginning of December 2007, Altamont Recording hosted George Clinton Jr., Scott Free (Bo Diddley’s prodigy and manager since 1980), and Derrick Davis (PFunk’s ‘Ray Davis Jr.’ with the same earth rumbling bass voice as his dad, and world class bass guitar), put into a fusion soup of sound with Chach, Campaign, and their friends, for 3 days of magic. In that 3 days time were four songs created, 3 going on the compilation, including a theme song for the 2020 Fund’s (www.2020fund.org) new sustainable branding umbrella and ‘Sustainable Seal of Approval’ Campaign 2020. The name decided for this collaboration has been ‘Funk Defined’, as the authentic heirs to the funk, combining with the scribes of the future, unveil a new definition of story telling funk. In 1954, George Clinton and Ray Davis played conductor and roots in Parliament, a legendary doo-wop group of their time evolving to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame with Parliament Funkadelic. 53 years later, their sons play the same roll together for the first time. Fusing this authentic old school funk, with a new sound of conscious hip hop, from the channel of Chach and Campaign, has managed to create a ‘New School of Funk’.

The first weekend of February 2008 hosted another fusion between Chach, Campaign, and the #1 R&B pop star of Dutch speaking nations, Brace. He has 2 albums, 10 top 10 hits, 12 videos, 5 #1 songs, and is only 21 years old. Hudson brought Brace and his manager to Asheville for the weekend to once again create magic at Altamont Recording studio, creating 2 songs for the compilation, and Brace’s first English music ever, featuring Chach and Campaign.

Brace is the spokesman for the World Wildlife Foundation and the World Nature Foundation, gracing the soundtrack of their commercials throughout the Dutch language, and soon in English. He has now stepped over to also speak and sing for Campaign 2020 and the movement to create a sustainable way of living on this earth by the year 2020. With founder Deborah Stern in Asheville for the entire month to research our community’s wealth of sustainable resources, education, and people, the convenience came to merge the brains of Deborah and David, Brace’s manager. We can only imagine where they might go from there.

This is a band that has been custom made by Bryan Hudson specifically as the house band for the 2020 Fund (www.2020fund.org) and subsequent Campaign 2020 sustainability movements, and a cross promotional alliance building tool between incredible world shifting organizations, and developing a common understanding and sustainable approach to consciousness and business.

Jack Healy, who is Hudson’s senior adviser for the project has had a long history of helping utilize the power of music to unite the people around humanitarian causes. Jack has a track record a mile long, and a life of standing up for love, truth and justice in the face of the darkest regimes on the planet.
