about eveeStar
Born on April 15th, 1987. . .and raised in Memphis, TN.
there's really not much to say about me. well, nothing of importance. nothing you actually would care to know, other than the fact that i am a sole lover of music and the arts.
i do it for the love. i do it for the satisfaction of expressing myself through this form.
thebeats.thebass.thelyrics.thevocals.theguitar. theeveryfactorofwhatmakesmusic...music,iguess. i love it all.
when someone is stricken with blindness, their body tends to automatically adapt to the deficiency by boosting another sense, like their sense of hearing, or touch, or maybe even both...just to make up for the absence of sight. . .
when i was a child, growing up in the custody of an over-achieving mother..i felt like i had no voice. i was just something she could live through, and try to make me something she could never be. that being impossible, there was always alot of tension between us, as i got older. since i was basically raised an emotional mute (i couldn't express myself through speech), i automatically found another outlet that i could voice myself through...and that was through song. since i was about 8, i have been using this form of expression, much like a first language. it's all i've really grown to know. i am very bad at explaining things to people, or even just talking, in general..because(as wierd as this may sound) it's not what i'm used to expressing my emotions through. i stuttered alot as a kid. i think this was because i was afraid to speak my mind..for fear of being rejected by my mother. as i got older, i started speaking my mind, with writing music and poetry. here i am now, with my connection to music stronger than ever. i want to reach out, with my music, to the people who suffer the way i did. if they can hear a song, and feel the true emotion in it, then maybe they'll discover that they don't have to live a mute life, either.
i first started performing at a coffeehouse called Java Cabana, in midtown. i went to open mic poetry nites for about a year before i played a couple shows there. i then progressed to finding more open mic nites in memphis. these included bars and coffeeshops like High Point Pinch, Full Moon Club, Monkey Bean, and the MGLCC community center. i never had more than a few original songs to play at shows, so i would make 20 song sets, mostly consisting of beatles covers, along with a couple of random songs i had learned over the years. so i never had a particular genre of style that i played by. i guess if you could categorize my vocal styles into anything, it would be something like alternative rock(on a softer note).
