by CHRIS KOCHER

[ Excerpt from the print edition of Dirty Linen #141 (May/June 2009) ]

Every New Year's Day in Philadelphia, the Mummers Parade winds its way down Broad Street through the heart of the city. Elaborately dressed, hoisting umbrellas, and dancing to joyful music, these thousands of colorful jesters share an uplifting message: Cast off your cares, put on a smile, and step into the possibilities of a new tomorrow.

The World Café concert -- which sells out months in advance -- is a hometown gig for frontman and songwriter Joziah Longo, and that only magnified the band's alchemic energy last year. [read more...]

The circus is delighted to be returning to the W. NC mountains. It's been a year and a half since we performed at the wonderful L.E.A.F. Festival, and we're looking forward to seeing our old friends and making some new ones!

A Very Slambovian Christmas' (Live from various places on the Earth Plane) is a collection of performances from Christmas and New Year's 2007 performed at various venues. It's as traditional and untraditional as you'd expect from Slambovia.

Highlights include:
  • A kickin' version of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' with Pressed Rat & Warthog underpinnings! (on MySpace Now)
  • Surreally smooth version of 'The Christmas Song' (Chestnuts)
  • All-time favorite 'Angels/Gloria' and much more...

Available in the US on cd or for download at:
The Slambovian Mercantile

Available internationally at::
