Born on:18-07-1978.Bapu completed his 4 yrs Tool engineering, from the Government Tool room and Training Center{An Indo Danish Project} in Hospet,(Karnatak). It is one of the prestigious institutes in India. Most of his music, he has learnt on his own. For the last three years he have been fortunate to come under the tutelage of the esteemed Hariprasad Chaurasia.Bapu began his musical journey at the age of 16 by learning the harmonium independently. His grand father N.Bheem Rao was a well known harmonium player at that time. He learnt several Raagas under his benign influence. After gaining some proficiency in harmonium, He was attracted towards playing the Flute. At that time he was 18 years old . It was completely by accident that this came to pass. He was returning home from a mela (a fair) when his sister bought him a really cheap flute (the kind that are to be customarily found in fairs in India. When he discovered that he could create “melodious” sounds from this instrument he began to try out the “classical” melodies. After this, he referred to different canonic texts , met a variety of flautists and took guidance from them. He practiced raagas by listening to Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasiaji’s audio cassettes and trying to emulate his style. Finally at the age of 20, by the grace of god, he was able to go to Bombay and was able to meet Pt.Hariprasad Chaurasiaji and play before him. Hariji presented him a flute of his and immediately took him on as his student. His Guruji also awarded him the Panna Devi music scholarship . Bapu says,”Music for me is a process of self healing and is a very relaxing experience”. Although I practices classical music,I respect and Love all type of music,i enjoys “FUSION” music and likes to experiment with different forms of music. It is easier for the younger generation to relate to music and it is also one way of making traditional instruments popular with them.” Bapu performed at various music festivals in India and in All India Radio,Doordarshan. He composed a music for couple of films made by Film & Television Institute of India. His performance atOsho Commune International, Amritamayi math,Shankaravharya math,Osho Meditation groups, shows his basic core that is music is one of a primary step to go in to our self.

Amazing Fusion by Bapu Padmanabha March 30th, 2007 by binyas Fusion at “JAZZ GARDEN” Pune….. They met only about 10 times before they shocked the audience with their talents!!!!! Believe it or not. But that’s the fact. They guys from local outfit ’strange brew’ & vercitiled flautist “Bapu Padmanabha” from Karnataka on flute . And not to forget Uday Deshpande on Tabla had an amazing night at jazz garden. An ideal line up to play fusion music…they played a gig in Karnataka where they had a great response from the crowd. This led them to go for another one this time in Pune. The show started at about 9:30, when Bapu & Uday started their run on their instruments with birthday boy Michael on keyboards¦ a rather quiter role than he normally is used to¦.hehe. after that chris, jakie & sanjeev joined in after the intro. They started with either a flute was playing solo or a guitar¦ which was good¦ well not just good¦ but awesome. Then comes an interesting part, where jakie got a kick n provoked uday to respond him n to start a bass-tabla jugalbandi ¦. That really got the audience on their feet¦.. The response was pretty good, only the difference was that this time there were not many typical ‘I want metallica’ crowd ¦ but genuine music lovers ¦ with no age bar¦.. overall a good beginning to a new musical venture ¦. Hope they come up with something more brilliant¦which they will¦ I’m sure. Lathika Desai..Pune..
