about Baltimores Own Lil Tae
Born February 8th, 1993, Devante Marshawn Wilson was born to his mother Demetrius Anderson and to his father Tobias Wilson in Baltimore Maryland. Growing up, Devante' was a happy young boy, until his parents separated. Devante' was around 2 or 3 when his father disappered from his life. Once that happened, Devante' began to change over time.
Soon, Devante' was occumpanied by a younger sister, Demira Iler and a younger brother, Walter Howard. Though actually born in Flag Projects, Devante's moved them around ALL OVER, which is the main reason why Devante's father lost contact with them. They moved every year! it even got to the point where Devante' and his family had no where to live and moved with his grandmother, Dinah Anderson. Devante' lived on Lexington St., then moved out Cedonia, then moved out Forest Park, and so on and so on.
In the year of 2003, Devante' moved to Westport, where he really started to changed. He moved there in the 5th grade and attended Westport Academy. Here, Devante' started hanging in the streets more, hanging with the wrong crowd and everything bad you can think of...happened! Devante' became friends with a boy named Terron, a boy named Quincey, and a boy named Wayne. They did everything! They went to school together and Devante' even started skipping school with them. Living in Westport, Devante' really started experiencing the street life first hand. With no father figure in his life at the time, he turned to his homeboys, who were getting him in trouble a lot. He never sold drugs, but he mine as well have. The first day of school, Devante' was almost jumped over a girl. One day, he even beat this boy up named Derell on a bridge! One night, Devante' started really looking at the world different and realizing how real things could get. While on Terron's porch, Devante' was almost shot! Everybody knew Quincy cousin and them were hustling right across the street. A car pulled up and started shooting at Quincy's cousins, who was right next to us almost. Like literally, 10seconds away! Devante' and Chelsea (Terron's Sister), ran in Terron's house and were terrified.
One day, Devante' was also rushed to the hospital! He was out Milford Mill with his cousins. Devante' was only in the 6th grade at the time. While walking pass a yard, there was a huge dog on a leash tied to a tree. Devante' didn't go in the yard...he stayed outside the yard, when suddenly, the dog broke off the leash and headed straight for Devante'. Before he could even move, the vicisous dog bit into Devante's leg, tearing through his flesh! Devante' started screaming and his cousin tried to get the dog off of him. The dog let go and Devante' tried to run, but fell. The dog then ran and bit Devante' in the leg again. Devante' was rushed to the hospital and thanking god...he was okay. He got stitches and was on crouches for about 3months! He could hardly walk. The dog was put to sleep.
Besides all these things that happened to Devante' while living in Westport....1 good thing occured. Devante' started rapping with Terron, Quincy, and Wayne. They started referring to Devante' as Tae. Wayne already had experience in music and was the best in the group, while Tae was the worse. This was Tae's first time ever rapping and was terrible, but he kept at it! Tae just kept writing and writing and was listening to artists such as The Game, 50 Cent, Tupac, Biggie, and even Michael Jackson. While the rapping was coming along, Tae was doing extremely good in school, which paid off. By the end of the 6th grade, Tae's grades were so good that he was picked to apply and attend a way better middle school, Francis Scott Key. Tae and his family moved again! This time, they moved to Brooklyn (in Baltimore...not New York). He was accepted to Francis Scott Key Magnet School, located near Federal Hill, and started attending in the 7th grade....2005. The school was great, but Tae missed Westport and the people there. He felt out of place and discouraged becuase everyone seemed smart and was answering questions Tae didn't know the answers to. Tae felt like he didn't belong.
By this time, Tae's father was back in life. Tobias contacted Tae's grandfather and the rest is history. It turns out, Tobias has been looking for Tae the whole time, but his mother kept moving and moving, so it was hard for Tobias to contact his son. He was searching for Tae for all these years and he finally found him and Tae was happy! All these years Tae grew up without a father figure, when the whole time his father was searching!
Though Tae felt out of place at his new school, Tae got his groove back when he became friends with Kenya, Antonio, and Montaz, who all rapped. They all were nicer than Tae in rapping, but Tae was still learning and practicing. One day, Kenya and Tae had a show at their school. This was Tae's first ever performance and he froze up. Kenya was energetic and connecting with the crowd, while Tae stood in 1 place, looking at the ground, rapping low. "I could hear people laughing at me and that hurt, but all that changed most defiently." Tae quotes.
By 2006, the shyness and the old Tae was out the window! Since the show, Tae got way better. He started his own rap group called Black Mob and met a super producer/mentor: Patrick Parents (now known as Dj Pat). Tae was now down Perkin Projects a lot, which was next to his old hood "Flag Projects" which were knocked down. He was welcomed there and that was like his second home. In school, Tae met the boy Blane Spencer and recruited him as a member in Black Mob. Tae attended a computer class, where he learned more about music and computer programs and began recording on the software: Garage Band. He started doing back yard shows in Pigtown and Patrick Parents began recording and producing Black Mob. Soon, Tae and Blane were signed under Pat's underground record label, Bigger Picture Ent. During Tae's 8th grade year, Tae became best friends with Tre' Foster and Pernell Parents, Pat's little brother. Tae felt better than ever and his ryhmes were getting better and better.
In 2007, Tae started high school. He attended Digital Harbor. Along side Bigger Picture, that summer they started doing shows, throwing parties, and even started a gospel group on the side called, Hood Messiahs. Tae then joined Blak Diamondz, involving Tae, Dj Chaos (CEO), and Yung Spenc. Tae's father got them booked down club cheerleaders on Broadway St. They loved them. They were only teenagers, performing at a 21 and over club! So this was really a big thing. All types of record labels came running. One label even gave them some free beats. Soon, Blak Diamondz were signed to Third Row Productions. Tae and the group signed an artist development contract and had to pay $400/month. They each had there half to come up with every month. After like the 3rd month, Tae started comming up short with his half for the month and then Spenc and then before you knew it, the deal was off. After that, things only got worse. By Tae's 10th grade year, Tae and Spenc felt like Dj Chaos began acting different. They felt like they were not welcome to his studio, in Chao's house. He use to rush them to hurry up and didn't really let them spend the night anymore. Before you knew it, the group broke up, but Tae had other things on his mind!
One day, Tae recieved a message on myspace from his ex girlfriend, Brooke Trusty, saying she was 3months pregnant! They decided to meet up and she showed Tae all the papers and even showed Tae the sonagram. That whole month, Tae was just nervous and thinking about the world and life period! Tae and his now baby mother got back together for the baby. On February 8th, Tae's birthday, Brooke came to his father house because Tobias were going to take them to Golden Carrol to celebrate Tae's 16th birthday. As soon as they were about to leave, Brooke's water broke! Tae panicked and was nervous. By February 9th, 2 something in the morning, Tae saw his beautiful daughter come into the world. Her name is London Leona Wilson and she was TAE'S BIRTHDAY GIFT. It was a beautiful feeling. After this day, Tae knew he had to step up, mature, and take care of his buisness. His whole life changed and he knew he had to make it in the game just for her. Tae was on top of his game and his music was getting out to the streets more. Tae and Spenc created Swaggarific Ent. and started the rap group Trap Boyz. In the summer of 09, To Da Lute asked Tae to compete in the Last Man Standing Rap Battles. Tae met Lute at a previous talent show competition. Tae went through 10weeks and made it to the finals, where K.S. won the whole thing. This really gave Tae a balanced fan base. Now almost everywhere he goes, he is noticed. Also, on 4th of July, Tae released his 1st album to the streets. It was called My Pain, My Stress, My Life. It did okay, but now Lil Tae is getting better than ever and is currently working on his 2nd album, currently Untitled and a movie called "Welcome 2 My City".
