I Am LaMont Anthony

I Love Making Music...

If I could, that's all I would do. I knew I wanted to write songs the first time I heard "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" by Elton John. There were other songs that lit my fire, but that one was orgasmic!

I was bound and hooked. I wanted to write but I only knew how to play drums when I was 11. The Piano came much later. That didn't stop me though from making up songs using the music of people like Stevie Wonder, (it's cliché, but who doesn't have Stevie as an inspiration), Roberta Flack, her version of "Killing Me Softly" was simply mesmerizing. Sorry Fugees.

I would pretend I was on stage performing with them and I was the one. These dream jam sessions went on for all of my childhood and teen years. If I liked the music, chances are I jammed with them. There was the concert with Paul Mac and Wings, Parliament and Funkedelic, at the same time mind you. I jammed with the Jackson 5, the Jacksons, and Michael. Janet came around much too late for me to jam with her. There was the all night session with Prince and the Time. Yes I learned from the best. There were a lot more but time will not allow me to list them all.

I'm on my own now all grown up and still full of the passion to make music like I had when I was younger. I learned piano from Kevin Bond. I learned Songwriting from Mr. Lawrence, one of my music teachers at South Shore High School. (Class of '81)! Donald Laurence taught me vocals, when I was at Livingstone College. Derrick Cobb showed me how to make music using MIDI.

It all came together on my last CD entitled, "In My Comfort Zone." And itâs been taking to the next level on my new CD, âIt All Started Hereâ. I hope I do everyone proud.

Love To Jam

New Aggressive Soul Music

posted September 30th at 7:34pm

Hi JBA family, I'm new to the site and would like to introduce my music. Let me know what you think. Also, I would like to hear music from you. Any genre will do. It's not all about me so I would like to listen and encourage. This is a hard thing we do and we need all of the support we can get.
